Blue Faery would like to remind our researchers that the "Blue Faery Award for Excellence in Liver Cancer Research" is currently accepting submissions. This annual award will honor one researcher who has made significant contributions to the advancement of scientific knowledge in the diagnosis, treatment, prevention or understanding of liver cancer. On behalf of everyone at Blue Faery, I want to thank you for stopping by our booth (#623) at the AASLD Liver Meeting conference in San Francisco. We enjoyed meeting so many dedicated doctors and healthcare professionals from around the world, and we are looking forward to forging new relationships in order to help all HCC patients.

 
As a reminder, our HCC Patient Education Brochure is free of charge to all patients, their families and their healthcare providers. The brochure is currently available in English, Spanish and Chinese; however, we are considering other translations in the near future. To order FREE brochures for your patients, please contact Vice President and chair of Medical Research Sherri Rose; she will process your order via email, and it will be shipped at no charge. If your patients need information right away, they may download the brochure from our website at http://www.bluefaery.org.
 
 
If you are a researcher or know others studying liver cancer, please be aware that Blue Faery is now accepting applications for our first Blue Faery Award for Excellence in Liver Cancer Research. The application process is quite simple, and all of the directions may be obtained by downloading the guidelines packet. We are looking for doctors and scientists who have made significant contributions toward the prevention, treatment and/or cure of liver cancer.

Blue Faery Award

Blue Faery is proud to announce our first award for excellence in liver cancer research. This annual award in the amount of $3000 will be distributed to a doctor who has shown innovative research in the prevention, treatment, and/or cure of liver cancer.  Liver Meeting 2008

Later this month, Blue Faery will host a booth at the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease's annual Liver Meeting. This year, the meeting will take place at San Francisco's Moscone Center. Three Blue Faery board members will be in attendance: Pam Jones, chair of Public Relations; Sherri Rose, Vice President and chair of Medical Research; and Andrea Wilson, President and chair of Fundraising.

 New Community Partner

Blue Faery is pleased to announce our community partnership with the Cal Hep B Free program on UC Berkeley's campus. This organization was inspired by the San Francisco Hep B Free initiative, which tests and vaccinates high-risk groups for hepatitis B. Hepatitis B is a known major risk factor for liver cancer. The Cal Hep B Free program recently launched their first campaign to test and vaccinate students at UC Berkeley for hepatitis B.
