Meet the Board of Directors

Andrea Wilson, MPW
President, Founder, chair of Fund Raising Committee
Formerly an adjunct faculty member at Kaplan University, Andrea currently works as a freelance writer and a private tutor. She earned her master's degree in professional writing from the University of Southern California (USC), where she was a graduate teaching assistant. Before focusing on her graduate studies, Andrea worked as a development writer and editor for USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. As a family service specialist at the Mattel Children’s Hospital at UCLA, she facilitated women’s groups in the Legacy for Children research study sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and managed by the Research Triangle Institute. During the seven years she raised her sister, Andrea worked as a primary and secondary school teacher. Andrea received her certification in Fund Raising with a focus on Institutional Development from UCLA Extension. She graduated cum laude from USC with a B.A. in humanities with an emphasis in theatre and a minor in women's studies. After graduation, Andrea gained custody of her then eight-year-old sister Adrienne. Raising Adrienne has been Andrea's greatest joy in life; losing Adrienne to liver cancer has been her greatest loss. Andrea started Blue Faery because she doesn't want another person to lose a loved one to HCC, and she wants the world to know Adrienne's spirit, strength and courage.

Sherri Rose, M.A.
Vice-President, Medical Research Committee Advisory Board member
Sherri received her M.A. in biostatistics from UC Berkeley and her B.S. in statistics from The George Washington University. She is currently working on her doctoral degree in biostatistics at UC Berkeley under the supervision of Professor Mark van der Laan. Her research interests include causal inference, machine learning, virology in human cancers and statistical genetics. Sherri's research experience includes positions within the National Cancer Institute, UCLA, UC Berkeley, and the San Francisco Department of Public Health.

Monique Beatty
Treasurer and Secretary
Born and raised in western Pennsylvania, Monique received her B.A. in communications from Gannon University in Erie. She currently lives in Southern California and has been working in animation for over a decade. Monique has worked at various studios including Disney, Dreamworks and Sony. Now she works as a line producer at Nickelodeon Animation Studios in Burbank.

Pam Jones

Chair of Public Relations Committee
A native of Southern California, Pam has a B.S. in business administration and management. She has worked primarily in manufacturing of consumer products. After spending some time in San Diego, Pam has returned to Los Angeles where she is currently a manager for a prominent Los Angeles area entertainment venue. Pam recently became a new grandparent. Through her friendship with Sherri, she became aware of Blue Faery, and now Pam dedicates her spare time to raising awareness of liver cancer.

Marina Uchenik
Marina was born in the Ukraine but raised in Southern California. She graduated from Los Angeles Pierce College with an AA and currently studies at California State University Northridge. Her career goals include finishing her degree in applied mathematics and going on with her masters. Marina met Adrienne in the sixth grade, and they remained friends long after Marina moved to a different school district. Marina volunteers for Blue Faery because she wants to spread awareness of hepatitis and liver cancer, and she doesn't want others to lose a dear friend to a relatively unknown, but extremely common cancer.

Corey Woods

An award-winning screenwriter, Corey was recently a Nicholl Fellowship semi-finalist for his script Offering, which also garnered him a finalist nomination in the 2004 International African Film Commission competition. When he’s not writing, Corey works as a boom operator on hit television shows such as 24, Crossing Jordan, Life, Madmen, The Unit, Clueless, and many others. In 2004 and 2005, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences recognized Corey for being a member of the team who won an Emmy Award for outstanding achievement in sound mixing for the dramatic series 24. Corey's love for screenwriting began when he earned an associates degree in film and television production. A native of Eugene, Oregon, Corey is a current IATSE member. He and Andrea were married in 2006. Though he never knew Adrienne, Corey knows her story, which led to his involvement with Blue Faery.
